One of the most difficult sections of a parasitology laboratory is learning to differentiate the various species of Plasmodium that infect humans.  The slides  have to view are generally from commercial sources and of varying quality, and it is generally very difficult  to find all stages of all species.  There are several web sites that contain reasonably good images of the different species of Plasmodium.  In this section I have put together images from these sources that demonstrate the life cycle stages of the four species of Plasmodium infecting humans.  A table summarizing the differences among these four species can be found here.
